We are healers and we are first responders
Our team of sports medicine trained therapists, experienced first responders and caring advocates uniquely understand the challenges you face, and we are ready to help.
100+ Years in Sports Medicine
After working for decades with pro baseball, football and golf athletes, Rebound realized the principles of sports medicine could help public safety workers heal faster. If a professional quarterback can get a fast diagnosis, so should a firefighter or any essential worker. Expedited tests, procedures, therapy and personal support make the difference for essential employees.
90+ Years in public safety
Our team includes former chiefs, police officers, firefighters, and educators who truly understand the physical demands of public safety employees. They have a deep understanding of the impact of injuries on a department roster and budget, as well as the positive effect that occurs when an employee returns to work 100% ready.
Exclusive provider access
We have built an exclusive network of the top providers across the country – many of which serve professional athletes. They are specifically trained to understand the demands of public safety workers.
“I started Rebound because we wanted to get people back to their jobs as quickly as possible; to their families as quick as possible; and back to their lives as quick as possible.”
– Luis Rivera, Founder
Luis launched Rebound in 2015 when he was struck by the reality that firefighters, police and other public safety workers face rigorous physical challenges on the job yet inefficient rehabilitation when injured. This observation came about because Luis spent the bulk of his career as a Sports Medicine trained Physical Therapist, specializing in rehabilitation at Arizona State University and his own clinics, treating pro athletes in football, baseball and golf.
Previously, Luis was the Director of Workers Compensation Business Development at Athletico in Milwaukee, Director of Physical Therapy at Peachtree Orthopaedic Clinic in Atlanta, Clinic Director and Partner at Athletico in Milwaukee and Group Director at Physiotherapy Associates in Tempe, AZ.
Luis is a recipient of the Ideadvance Grant of the Center for Technology Commercialization of the Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship at the University of Wisconsin System. He also is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
Luis received his Bachelor of Arts Degree and Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy at Marquette University. He also holds the following designations: Athletic Trainer, Certified (ATC); Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT); and Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES).
Luis lives in Mequon with his wife, Michelle, and children. Little known fact: Luis is an avid “Star Wars” fan.
Tim joined Rebound after a 30-year career in corrections and law enforcement, retiring as Captain in the Wauwatosa Police Department. Tim was the former Director of Training and Personnel, the department’s Range Master and Lead Firearms Instructor. As a 20-year veteran of the department’s Special Response Team (SWAT), he served as an Operator, Team Leader, and Team Commander. Director of Advocates
Sarah became Rebound’s first advocate in 2016 and she now leads the department. In this role, Sarah helps hire and train new advocates who guide Rebound members through their entire injury recovery journey. Sarah continues to help clients as well, and she relishes her role as an advocate for injured first responders. Sarah brings years of medical experience to the job, including a degree in Health Information Technology. While working at Athletico with Luis Rivera and wading through red tape in workers compensation cases, Sarah has great understanding of the challenges in the workers’ compensation world. Sarah is a true advocate for changing the traditional health care model because she believes that an injury shouldn’t devastate someone’s life. When Sarah isn’t adding a personal touch when speaking with Rebound members or her team, she and her family enjoy the great outdoors in Fond Du Lac, where they have a seasonal campsite.
